One of the more popular places for Northwestern residents to go is Fifth Street Public Market in Eugene, Oregon. As of December 2011, there is more remodeling going on so expect some noise until it gets finished. The original building was built in 1929 and has been added to and remodeled several times. The 5th Street Market also has several eateries, with seating outside around the fountain area – delightful on a sunny summer day. One store, named Hartwick’s, has everything anybody could possibly want in the way of kitchen and gourmet cooking supplies – it’s great fun even if you aren’t an expert cook! I also enjoy Swahili which sells an amazing and fascinating variety of items imported from African nations. There is an elevator for those who can’t tackle stairs. Market Street Grill offers a seafood-focused menu, including oyster selections and fresh catches as well as steaks, prime rib and pastas. The dining room features an elegant, nautical vibe perfect for your next dinner or lunch gathering. Market Street Grill is a classic restaurant serving fresh seafood since 1980. It’s a charming arrangement on several levels, with an attractive center courtyard complete with fountain. Market Street Grill & Oyster Bar in Cottonwood Heights, UT. The 5th Street Market is perfect for that. Whilst I spend a fair amount of time and money buying items at “big box stores”, I also like to wander through small, locally owned interesting shops.

It's a great atmosphere, they have free customer parking, and I can spend a good afternoon wandering, tasting, and taking in the sights and sounds of one of Eugene's great markets. With the addition of the new Inn at the 5th, the market is at its most successful, in my opinion, since I've lived in Eugene (I was born here). Hartwick's, next door to Provisions, is a great local kitchen supply store that always has really innovative things as well as high-end, high quality items. They also have events such as free wine tastings, wine clubs, and showcase certain regional foods from time to time. Market is the new home to the Gadsden Farmer's Market, Fridays 7am-Noon. There are also some great jewelry, clothing, and gift shops, not to mention Marche Provisions, which sells unique food items and more olive oil variations than I knew existed. I never once felt that I had to travel far and away to find items and from stories I heard, was. Throughout the pandemic, you have been well stocked with paper products, soap and sanitizers and food items such as produce and prepared foods. Marche is high end French food, and Cafe Lucky Noodle is just a block down on 5th. I wanted to thank your teams and especially the Streets in the Cambridge Apartment building on Mass Ave. They have a good range of restaurants upstairs with reasonable prices, and some of the nicest restaurants in Eugene call the market home. Many of the shops and restaurants are associated with the same few owners, but it works out nicely. Public Market has been one of my favorite Eugene places for a long time.
